First published in 1852 this interesting book was written when the continent of India was still one and under British Rule. Added to this reprint is a brief chapter on Burton himself, a truly fascinating man, and also a chapter by the editor on his own recent visit to the setting of this charming work. The original illustrations are included along with some specially commissioned ones to compliment the text.
